Aid group makes plea for Western hostages in Iraq (praises terrorists attacks US)
Reuters ^ | December 4 2005

The director of an aid group appealed on Saturday to the abductors of four Western hostages held in Iraq to release them, saying they were working in the country to help free Iraqi prisoners.

Rich Mayer, director of Christian Peacemaker Teams, told the Arabic Al Jazeera television that the four captives -- two Canadians, an American and a Briton -- had been working in Iraq to help relatives locate people held prisoner in Iraq.

He made his comments one day after Iraqi insurgents holding the four threatened in a videotape to kill them unless Iraqi detainees held in prisons run by the Iraqi government and U.S. forces were released by Dec. 8.

"We are working on revealing the occupation's violence and acts. Those people (hostages) are believers who work against the occupation," Mayer told Al Jazeera.

"So we appeal for their release so they can continue their work on your behalf and on behalf of the Iraqi people."

Asked if he was worried about the hostages' lives, Mayer said: "We are worried about the lives of these people. But we know that thousands of Iraqis are held illegally by the U.S. forces in prisons that violate international law and in worse conditions than these four."

Here is a very good example of how stupid the anti-war people truly are.

In their moldy little minds they think that Arabs only hate rich white American Republicans. And if only those people would just sit home and never go outside then the whole world could be such a shiny happy place.

But the truth is Osama and his fanatics DEMAND that ALL westerners immediately leave the whole Middle East. And that even if the US did so then al-Qaida would still be attacking all the other Western people and businesses in the region.

I hope these particular fools get the full measure of reality that they deserve, and are not ransomed back. Not that the others will learn, they will blame Bush.

Will he still claim that when they get their heads chopped off?

If they are released they should be arrested for collaborating with the enemy! Then sent away to one of those secret CIA jails, say in Dufur.

I think the whole capture thing could be a hoax. Or the other
hand it would be very ironic if these people were executed by the terrorists they are trying to help.

What's even more ironic is that the terrorists are demanding that the US government do precisely what these appeaseniks were trying to get done.

They should think of this as an "involuntary hunger strike" or some such.

Frankly, is this group any worse than the MSM? This am the BBC broadcast an interview with Gerry Adams of the Sinn Fein. The interviewer, a British woman who jumped down his throat everytime he opened his mouth, accused him and the IRA of robbing some bank in Jan. of 6 million pounds. He denied it. She said, basically, that he had a lot of nerve denying it when three groups, independent groups thought the IRA had done it. So he asked her to name names in these groups, and she couldn't. One was the British govt., One the US govt, one something else, some independent whatever. So she says, well, these govt.s think the IRA did it, and he asked her if she believed whatever the US govt. said about Iraq, and what the US is doing there.

She was speechless, of course since she hates the US! You can hear the interview at the BBC website. It was pretty funny. Adams kept his cool and talked rings around her, no matter what you think about his politics, etc.. Of course Ireland is filling up with Muslims, so things aren't as simple as they once were.

First of all, that phrase reveals the peace group's true intentions, Second, did this moron seriously believe that the terrorists would give them a pass? This group labels themselves as Christians. They're from the evil West. What did they EXPECT?!?!?

I'm reminded of "Die Hard", when the coke-sniffing co-worker goes to Hans Gruber and thinks he can negotiate with terrorists. He gets McClane on the phone, tries to say "John, they're going to kill me, give them their detonators". McClane tells him to shut up, that he doesn't know what he's gotten himself into. Gruber shoots the guy dead.

These people may well have thought "if we get let ourselves get grabbed we can use this to draw attention to the evils of the Americans". The jihadis, by contrast, think "fresh meat", more western people to rape, torture, and butcher.

Or, on the other hand, they could just be morons who blundered into this.

I guess we should hope these people are released safely, but they are sure making it difficult to hope for that. Extremely difficult.

Well, they may be in on this. If not and they are killed, they brought it on themselves.

What POs me is that our military will have to look for them and take risks on their behalf anyway.

General George S. Patton, my hero, had a knack for getting straight to the point. He said, "These pulpit killers that go around saying that man dare not kill causes the death of many thousands of good soldiers. Damn little those pulpit killers...The quicker we can kill the enemy, the quicker we can go home and listen to the pulpit killers tell us what we did wrong. If it wasn't for us, those pulpit idiots would be shot for standing in their own pulpits. Our task is to kill the enemy before we are killed."

They can go to hell. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of folks.

Flame suit on.

Well, they may be in on this. If not and they are killed, they brought it on themselves.

They could well be in on it and still get killed. If you're a jihadi group struggling to get hostages, you may say "oh, we won't harm you, just film some videos". Then they grab 'em and decide it would be more beneficial to torture and kill them, while al Jazeera shows the video.

Side note: Remember when that one Italian hostage was executed--he took the hood off his head and said "this is how an Italian dies".

Al Jazeera refused to show that part of the video, because the man who was murdered humiliated the murderers by refusing to cower. Keep that in mind any time some lib says that Al Jazeera is a neutral party. They're engaged in propaganda and refuse to show anything that makes Zarqawi and company out to be the true cowards that they are.

You're absolutely right, it is embarrassing that the US military is using resources to try to rescue these jihadi-loving punks.

The statement you quoted (and the statement about the US holding people in worse conditions) raises my suspicions.

Those people (hostages) are believers

Key Muslim phrase, there.

These bozos probably haven't even considered that the bozos holding them hostage aren't Iraqis. So they could care less whether the hostages live or die. They'll probably just kill them for fun.

Don't worry, this makes it blatantly obvious that nothing is going to happen to this group, they're working with the terrorists to undermine the US. They will be "turned loose in a gesture of good will" at the last minute.

I'm not so sure.

The terrorists released demands that the US releases ALL prisoners before December 9th (I believe that it is the 9th). Of course, this is an impossible demand even if the US intended to do it.

Terrorists usually don't extend "good will" as it would wreck their credibility. However, I understand that this is a "new" organization, and it is possible that they are a phony group in order to stage this nonsense... but somehow I doubt it.

I'd wager that these four will be seeing a whole new perspective of their torsos (albiet brief) in the very near future.
