I really don't care if the Left hates Walmart. I have nothing against Walmart. This is simply another case of the Left trying to destroy something that won't play their game.

It sickens me to see how STUPID some "conservatives" are. How easily they are fooled. There is NO excuse for this.

When possible we shop at Walmart. I go out of my way to purchase stuff there that we want. I can purchase Bibles there, Christian books, people are nice, stores are CLEAN, the Salvation Army is ALLOWED to be there and the choice is yours IN you contribute and of course prices are good - just like K-Mart (filthy store unfriendly people and UNCHRISTIAN merchandise) and Target is the SAME way as K-Mart.

Walmart has discovered when you GIVE to charity you are BLESSED. I would imagine MANY freepers here - just don't get that. Again, THESE freepers sicken me.

One bastion of the liberal left, The People's Republic of Ann Arbor, has an admittedly delightful and unusual downtown, rife with boutiques that epitomize what liberals prefer to partronize. They love it when the owner-in-smock greets them at the door, recognizes their face, and in erudite savior-faire, schmoozes them into buying the $36,000 bronze eagle they've "always wanted" for their foyer, since the 10' indoor fountain has become so passe' these past couple of years.

When there's a Wal-Mart within an hour's driving distance, such stores' owners seem less and less to be able to maintain the prodigal lifestyle to which they've grown accustomed (e.g, $24,000 profit from the aforementioned bronze eagle). As these liberals make the connection of their inability to maintain their profligate concepts of how they should "be allowed" to live their licentious lives, Wal-Mart permanently enters the deprecated vernacular for reflexive derision.

In their search for blameworthy boogeymen, which, of course, shouldn't be allowed to exist, and probably couldn't in their ideal, centrally-managed economy, they've come once again to realize how capitalism is "stealing their fortunes and futures" from their elite, old-money status.

These hate with drooling, bug-eyed vengeance, and can be counted upon to do so as Pavlov's dog, when Republican red-meat ideals are waved before them.

"The left HATES giving that doesn't benefit socialism."

Yup ... capitalism is an ENEMY of the left.

Thank you for posting this.

May Walmart naysayers WAKE-UP and hang their headS in shame - ah, but pride will prevent this.

Wrongheaded thinking. You are not going to stop the global economy, and we don't have the capacity to make every good and service that we demand in this country, so it makes sense to buy from countries that have a comparative advantage on certain goods and services that we demand, and sell certain goods that we have a comparative advantage to them or other countries.

You are ignorant in free market economics and reality.

I refuse to defend Wal-Mart as long as they do things like the General Counsel of Wal-Mart requiring that every law firm it does business with have a minority lawyer on the "team" that does the Wal Mart legal work.

That's just reeks of reverse racism.

I am as Conservative as possible, yet hate WalMart. I think WMT's business model will destroy our economy if left unchecked.

Keep spending and sending your dollars to China. They are all but certain to come back in another form.

This thread is about WalMart. Support your claim that WalMart sells more Chinese goods than other major retailers or grocery chains.

When I buy shampoo, shaving cream, potato chips, soda pop, paperback books, CD's, motor oil, fishing lures etc. at WalMart they are EXACTLY the same brands sold in every other store.

You're blowing smoke.

I tend to agree with you here as well. Personally speaking, it's part of the reason why I don't accept the label "conservative."

I would imagine MANY freepers here - just don't get that. Again, THESE freepers sicken me.

Well, I'll be accused of having a tin-foil hat on for this. So I'll give you a Cliff's Notes version of my thinking: Even with FReepers, things are not always what they seem to be.

It's 22:10 on Thanksgiving night and I have crashed my hard drive. My only solution is to get a new drive, Ghost a backup drive, then try and recover current files from the crashed drive.

Where do you get a new hard drive at 22:30, Thanksgiving night?

Why, Wal-Mart, of course.

My town has a Super Wal-Mart ... groceries, car repair and the usual everything else.
It also has my bank inside.
The convenience is not something I pay for (the usual 'line'), rather, it's something that actually costs less to have.

I'll admit that some time ago I fiddled with the thought of the Chinese conspiracy and a bunch of et cetera's, but I've come to the point that, if I can park once and complete all of my banking and shopping in relative warmth, comfort and friendliness ... (there are some flirtable women in Wal Mart ... ), Any negatives are by far outweighed by those positives.

Who cares if Sam wasn't a philanthropist ... the kids certainly 'got it' .

"I am as Conservative as possible, yet hate WalMart. I think WMT's business model will destroy our economy if left unchecked."

You are a very ignorant conservative then about free market economics. Walmart's business model will do and has done exactly the opposite of what think--it is making our economy stronger and the best in the world.

Hilarious that the author should refer to the W-M heirs as tax evaders. Do liberal critics say the same about the notables among the RATs who do the same things to avoid paying taxes.. People like Moore, Streisand, Soros, the Hollyweirds etc. are experts in paying no taxes at all or very few. For a good read try: "Do as I Say (not as I do)" by Peter Schweizer. It's an eye-opener about liberal hypocrisy.

It's not a question of being bamboozled by the left-or anyone else: it's a question of contributing to the Peoples' Liberation Army of China-under whose auspices Walmart's stock in trade is manufactured.

You might want to take a look at this website:

Walmart is a private company. If they choose that course of action, bravo! It is when government forces that kind of choice that I get mad.
