I guess Gov. Blanco's image was more important than getting relief to NO. BTW, is it my imagination, or are these aides just a tad on the paranoid side, not to mention delusional? The act like FEMA's arrival represented an invasion by a foreign power. And the Governor of LA gives a speech, and they think TV networks are going to pick up the feed and broadcast it nationally? What kind of mushrooms were the governor's staff smoking that day?

I said it before and I'll say it again; normal people don't react like paranoid nutcases...... unless they have something to hide. Either Blanco has managed to hire a staff made up of paranoids, or they were scared to death that the arrival of the Feds without strict oversight and control from Blanco's office would lead to something embarrassing being discovered. That embarrassment is most likely massive corruption and embezzlement by LA pols. The phony "police who don't exist" on the NO payroll is probably the tip of the iceberg of embezzlement of federal funds that has been going on for years down there. There was more than just incompetence at work after Katrina; I'll bet you the relief efforts were screwed-up in order to obstruct the discovery of criminal activity by LA pols. People died so that these scumbags could try to hide their crimes. That's murder.

I'd be very surprised if you're wrong. New Orleans was a figurative cesspool of corruption before Katrina; then Katrina and corruption and incompetence turned it into a literal cesspool.
