Stolen guns at that! New York has some of the most stringent gun laws. If they want even more, pass STATE laws to disarm the victims. Since when has it been up to the Feds to control firearms?
Memo to the Mayor: More than twice as many people drown in swimming accidents in this country every single year. Maybe you should start by outlawing swimming pools and move on to guns another year.
===============================================
Not in NYC. The Mayor is pissed that a cop is dead because some clown in Florida left his legally owned gun unsecured in his car. I'm a handgun owner, a former cop and a NYer. I'm pissed too.
And how many kids die in swimming pools because parents leave them unattended?
Leftists want to legislate behavior and I'm sure that Bloomberg hates guns, all guns, whether they are handled and secured properly or not.
Bloomy is an idiot when it comes to guns...someone should hold him up and let him feel the fear of someone that is going to kill you, then maybe he would know why people carry guns...
And I'm talking about 'sane' people, not the street punk...
I don't live in NYC, but thought I read something that cops in the city were limited in their use of firearms power. The left loves to use every tragic incident as further "proof" that guns should be outlawed.
Well there's your problem. Now all we have to do is pass a law against stealing guns and the crime problem will be solved. Every good little bedwetting liberal clymer knows that passing more laws is the answer to all the world's problems.
========================================
Absolutely zero relevence to the issue.
You're naive.
The NRA's response is pretty pious, though: "not appropriate" is weasel-talk. What they should be saying is that New York has a gun crime problem because of its gun laws, not despite them, and that New York politicians' doctrinaire anti-gun position is killing citizens.
How about you explain to me exactly how pool drownings have anything to do with guns.
Have the Mayor's bodyguards disarmed?
Do you understand that the left wants to use every tragic incident as an excuse to reduce gun ownership and firepower by the police?
Use their own arguments against them.
Every tragic drowing accident in a pool can be avoided too. But no one on the left is advocating outlawing swimming pools.
I'm sure you understand this analogy but are being deliberately obtuse.
And, personally, I am pissed that a cop, a father of two is dead because some good-citizen in Florida left a gun over night in his car.
I'm sure that no one is happy that a good man is dead. And I'm sorry you don't like analogies. I do.
Do you know for a fact that "some clown" left his gun unsecured in his car? If provably so, the owner acted irresponsibly and shares some of the blame, at least morally, for the perp having possession of the gun.
But IMHO the scumsucker who stole the gun and the 2-legged animal who used it to murder the cop are primarily responsible for the officer's death, and should be taken off the street permanently by means of lethal injection administered at a state prison within 90 days of conviction. 3 days would be better, but I guess they have to be given time enough for one appeal before getting the needle.
Bloomberg is an absolute idiot. Blaming gun laws in Florida or wherever is logic of the most tortured type. This piece of human refuse could just as easily have stolen a car and used it to kill someone as this 9mm.
Getting crackheads off the street would be a good start for the Mayor rather than blaming an organization whose purpose is the defense of the 2nd Amendment.
"This is plain and simple, the NRA versus the lives of our children and our police officers," he declared."
I heard this demagoging creep say this yesterday and I cursed him out loud. The 2nd amendment was put in place to guard the republic from the elites in power--You know, people like YOU Mr. Mayor.
Better wash your ears out.
