My guess on the silence, like Diana Lynn argues, that many Americans have put up with, is that we're shamed. We know a great wrong has been done that cannot ever be redressed. In her memory, those of us who champion a life ethic must see to it: never again. That should be Terri's eternal legacy to the rest of us. Sad but true. Not a very good legacy for the land of the free, and the home of the brave : (
