Every time I hear what a "good man" Tookie is, writing children's books even....I can't get a picture of Eddie Murphy and "Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood" out of my mind.
Watch dog bark on a hot summer night,
kill my landlord, kill my landlord,
watch dog bark, though he bite,
kill my landlord, kill my landlord,
slip in his window, break his neck,
then his house I start to wreck,
got no reason, what the heck!
kill my landlord, kill my landlord,
C-I-L-L my landlord
Actually that wasn't Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood, but his Images by Tyrone Greene poem. Funny stuff.
"I'm gonna get me a shotgun and kill all the whities I see,
I'm gonna get me a shotgun and kill all the whities I see.
When I kill all the whities I see, then whitey he won't bother me,
I'm gonna get me a shotgun and kill all the whities I see."
You're right - got them confused because Mr. Robinson frequently referred to "Mr. Lan'lord"
I believe that the poem was by Garrett Morris, not Eddie Murphy.
Remember "In Living Color"? We never missed that show. The poem kind of reminds me of the Santa skit.
