>> Is there a reason you chose to use the democrats winning the SF mayoral race as supporting evidence that CA is drifting to the left ? <<

Gee, only Gavin Newsom handing out gay marriage licenses like they were french fries. Oh, and Gavin was the more "moderate" candidate. If that's San Francisco's idea of "moderate", I'd hate to meet the "liberal" Green Party candidate who lost. He probably makes Karl Marx look conservative!

Thanks for the background. I know the sentiment, although I have not jumped ship and don't intend to. You didn't comment on some of the items I highlighted. Can you see why Republicans and Conservatives are angered by the actions of this governor?
Arnold on the other hand, has failed to show any glimmer of conservatism, fiscal or otherwise. Big borrowing, big spending, more gun control, fewer than 50% republican judicial appointees, a GREEN environmental platform, etc.. Do you support these things? Why should any republican support those things? It isn't Arnold--it is his actions. Kennedy is not the first leftist appointee. We've seen Reiss, Tamminen (the treehugger), Henning (Red diaper boy), etc.

No matter what you say, he's still better than Gray Davis or Bustamante. I'm not saying he's a great Governor, he's just better than they would have been. And if he hadn't run, Bustamante would have won and that would have been a complete disaster.

There has NEVER been ANY evidence for that theory! In fact there IS evidence to the contrary!!!

The purely emotional mind-set is so stale and incorrect!!!

So. Do you wish Gray Davis were still Governor? Do you wish Bustamante had won? Given what you wrote, it appears you think they might have done a "better" job than Governor Arnold.

"All the GOP folks cheered, not realizing that he's no different than Dinkins."

That's really unfair, as many problems as I have with Bloomy, you can't say he's no different than Dinkins. He would not let an anti-semitic riot rage for three days, that's what Dinkins did that got his behind voted out of office.

"RIP (Rest in purgatory)"

Now, you know, I never thought of it that way. Good one!

>> Schwarzenegger appoints new finance director: Republican budget advisor M. Gensest <<

How nice of Arnie to appoint an actual Republican or two to a handful of offices. Slick Willie appointed a Republican as his Secretary of Defence. That must make him a "fiscal conservative" in your mind.
