Maris Shriver belongs to a prominent Dimocratic family, the Kennedys. Looks like she is working her "magic" on the turdminator.

That a center-left Republican like Schwarzenegger will do more damage than a liberal Democrat is almost axiomatic at this point, and rank-and-file Republicans have been burned enough times to realize it.

Well golly gee, I wonder who was taking the heat here on FR for saying that during the recall?

You were right. I wonder what Hugh Hewitt thinks about his blind, ferocious support of Awenold and Spector now?

Reminds me of Mike Bloomberg, the Democrat leftist in NYC who switched parties right before the election because there were too many Dems running, and won.

All the GOP folks cheered, not realizing that he's no different than Dinkins.

Amazing how mesmerized certain Pubbies get at that little "R" next to someone's name...

The "FRench Wing" of the California Republican Party sought to devastate the grassroots conservatives and replace them with moderate operatives of their own at FR.

RIP (Rest in purgatory)

Some FReeper chided me for calling Hugh Hewitt a RINO during the Harriet Miers nomination. Looks like Mr. Hewitt has quite a record of backing pseudo-conservatives!!

Hey, FO, stick a fork in your buddy, 'cause he is DONE. He could dig up Ronald Reagan, Joe McCarthy and Howard Jarvis and hire them on his staff and that still wouldn't be enough to repair the damage he has caused.

Buh-bye, Ah-nold. I always knew you were a scummy RINO traitor, you never had me fooled for a moment. Hasta la vista, BAY-BEE.

There is talk, he says, of drafting Tom McClintock to run against Schwarzenegger, and "Mel Gibson's name is being floated."

I voted for Tom the last time, and I'd vote for him again. On the other hand, I don't think Mel Gibson is what we need at this point. Mel is undoubtedly a great person, but enough already with the inexperienced celebrities.

Arnold's special election initiatives were bold, daring and conservative. He lost them all but at least he made the dems spend 180 million in an off year election.

Arnold is a good guy, who painted a lot of the dems as "girlie men". No one else could pull that off either.

not realizing that he's no different than Dinkins.

Do you really want to compare dinkins and bloomberg ?

dinkins almost bankrupted NYC, under bloomberg, NYC is doing just fine.

I have a different take on what's going on.

I suspect Schwarzeneggar and McCain are preparing to reactivate the Reform Party under different management and a different name. (I think they'll go back to early American history and revive the old Federalist Party label.)

This would be a party of the Radical Middle, unbeholden to the devoutly religious on the Right and the blacks and unions on the Left. It would be conservative on fiscal issues but libertarian on social issues, a good mix for a suburban party. As such, it would draw moderate Republicans and moderate-to-conservative Democrats out of their respective parties and splinter both parties simultaneously. Freed of ties to special interests, it could propose truly radical solutions to problems.

I also suspect that the McCain-Feingold law was put together precisely for this purpose and that this plan has been gestating for years.

Schwarzenegger hasn't enlarged or energized the Republican base, and his blatant giving away of the store is likely to undercut the chances of Republican officeholders across the board in the next election.

Are there any left in CA?
