NYC is booming. The rest of the state is an economic basket case. Bad climate, bad amenities, bad economics. NYC is booming because it is a great place to live if you have money, and more and more folks do. The place is becoming more like central Paris. Neighborhoods within easy reach of the Manhattan magnet are all gentrifying.
