WASHINGTON (Nov. 30) - Titled "The Sands Are Blowing Toward a Democratic Iraq," an article written this week for publication in the Iraqi press was scornful of outsiders' pessimism about the country's future.

A vendor shows newspapers for sale at his stall in Baghdad. The Pentagon is paying millions to a public-relations firm for work that appears to violate fundamental principles of Western journalism.

People are so historically deprived. During WWII we had specific offices set up just TO portray Americans and our servicemen in a positive light. Of course, during that time the national media actually was on our side.

The MSM has nobody to blame but themselves for their status as Illegitimate Media. There is absolutely nothing wrong with hiring others and paying them to get the truth out to the Iraqi people if the stories are factual.

THE NYT IS HIDING BEHIND A DIRTY REALITY.

In Europe is is STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE to have politicians PAY REPORTERS to help with the "expenses" of reporters.

IT IS ROUTINE, the NYT "doth protest too much".

In fact is is MORE incidious with the NYT affiliates in europe because they pretend impartiality. EVERYONE knows that stories can be shaped if you help the reporters with their "expenses" in covering a story about certain politicians.

This is a nothing story being promoted by the left.

It's called PSY-OPS!

My gosh, does every news story have to be seen through the "US IS SO BAD" looking glass? And the terrorists are NOT paying for PRO-INSURGENT articles?

What the hell is the problem with putting good news articles in the Iraqi papers showing PROGRESS and CHANGE and PEOPLE LIVING IN PEACE?

It is truly amazing how many people in our own country want America to lose. How does a story like this get any traction? Maybe, just maybe we pay those News Agencies to PRINT those stories, not PLANT those stories. Oh no, the awful Americans are paying Iraqis to print PRO-American articles. MAYBE BECAUSE WE WOULD LIKE TO WIN! MAYBE BECAUSE IT IS OUR MONEY PAYING FOR THE REBUILDING!

And people wonder why our President cannot get anywhere in the MSM. It is not that his PR department sucks. It is that nobody in the MSM feels that our President deserves any respect.

Sickening.

fundamental principles of Western journalism.

Priciples:

1) America is bad

2) All stories should be written from the viewpoint that America is bad

3) The UN is good

4) The terrorists need to be understood

5) The terrorists only need to be reasoned with

6) America needs to give all of its wealth to poor countries, like France

7) America is bad

8) Propaganda is good as long as it makes America look bad

9) The story does not have to be proven true to publish, someone has to prove it NOT true after it is published

10) Bill Clinton is the most wonderful person to ever set foot on this planet

Yup. Those are Western journalistic principles.

I've heard it said that that the biggest cover-up in recent history is the MSM's failure to report the "good news" in Iraq.

More people need to be convinced that his is so and there may well be a change in how the war is reported in the MSM.

When the DNC does it, it's PR (as in NPR). When a conservative administration does it, it's "propaganda".

Propaganda was not considered criminal until recent years.

Ain't no brag if it's true.

If your Joe Wilson, you don't have to pay to plant an article in the New York Times.

In europe it is standard procedure for reporters to be given "gratuities" from politicians.

The NYT KNOWS this information.

It is like cassablanca, "shocked, shocked, shocked I say..."

What is REALLY going on is that the NYT is trying to help the Democrats declare "defeat" as the reason troops are being pulled.

By the standards of the democrat party, the United States lost the revolutionary war because the soldiers went back to their homes at the end.

"The NYT & WaPo charge subscriptions to ignore good news in Iraq."

The best line, best laugh and best insight of the day.

There is more to it than just that.

The NYT hates the USA, they NYT favors socialis/communism/anti-captialism despite the fact that the NYT does nothing to represent the USA or report news without bias.

It may just be a simple matter of who owns a printing press.

The only reason FR can thrive and the information flows on the internet is that we are NOT dependent on a printing press or a MSM distribution network.

IOW they may not be able to bypass their version of the MSM as easily as we at FR.

(even in some european contries you STILL pay for internet by the minute!)
