Murtha disputes 'staying the course' policy (MEGA Barf alert)

LATROBE, Pa. - Most U.S. troops will leave Iraq within a year because the Army is "broken, worn out" and "living hand to mouth," U.S. Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., told a civic group.

Two weeks ago, Murtha called for U.S. troops to leave Iraq now. He spoke to a group of community and business leaders in Latrobe on Wednesday, the same day President Bush said troops would be withdrawn when they've achieved victory, not under an artificial deadline set by politicians.

Murtha predicted most troops will be out of Iraq within a year, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported Thursday.

"I predict he'll make it look like we're staying the course," Murtha said, referring to Bush. "Staying the course is not a policy."

Murtha, a decorated war veteran, said the Pennsylvania National Guard is "stretched so thin" that it won't be able to send fully equipped units to Iraq next year.

Being a member of the VFW I have known many old soldiers and it is not uncommon to hear this from them.
Don't know if it is the onset of senility or that they will be going to their maker soon and this mindset in some way or another is an atonement of their own conscience.

After watching this moron rant on Chris Matthews last night, I am convinced this guy is neither the sharpest knife in the drawer, has any clue as to what's going on Iraq and he has serious mental problems. I was trying to deconstruct the inconsistencies in Murtha's position, but they're so numerous from top to bottom that I've concluded the same thing:

I called Pennsylvania Rep HQ and they told me that as of now, no one has declared to run against Murtha. However, with his "statements" of late they expect some candidates will step forward.

I requested to be kept aprised of the situation because I fully intend to send campaign contributions to Murtha's opponent in my son's name. (He's a Navy Corpsman about to go over to Iraq). They took my information and told me they would keep me in the loop.

If we all donated say $5 or $10 bucks, it might just be enough to overthrow this supposedly safe dem seat. I've not thrown myself or my money into another state's political campaigns before, but this Useful Idiot made me mad.

Nah, Murtha is like the rest of the democrats. They ALL assume that they still have a complete media monopoly. This informs us as to why they act as they do.

For example, when Murtha goes on Matthews and acts like he is a few fries short of a Happy Meal, he just assumes that Matthews is what everyone is watching and that Murtha's view will be the only one to receive air time. Similarly, when Kerry makes his latest flip flop statement, he assumes that the media will not fact check him, which Fox and Talk Radio most certainly did. Yet another example is how the dems fully believe the cooked MSM polls reflect reality. Hence why the dems feel they can unleas a full assault on this war regardless of how defeatist and seditious it sounds. They believe the public WANTS America to be defeated.

First, I watched Murtha during the House debate and this guy does not deserve all the "he's a great patriot" accolades. He spouts nonstop stories meant to demoralize the troops, the main theme being that the military mistreats its soldiers at every turn.

Second, is anyone else astounded that the democrats are openly calling for the United States NOT to "stay the course"??? Like their constant calls for higher taxes, it's like openly coming out against motherhood and apple pie. Then again, maybe they oppose those too.

But could anything be more embarrassing than arguing that we shouldn't be brave and constant and stay the course? It seems like insanity.
