Watched the whole thing. Regret the waste of time intensely. The only character I liked in the series was Misato - and how a woman who drank that much beer could look that good, I'll never know.
I like anime, but they usually lose me near the end when they jump over top - like Last Exile.
Now that I am married I try to feed worthwhile anime to my daughters, but I have a lot less time for it myself.

Hmm... worthwhile anime. You know, there is one series that comes to mind that has a very positive message, and that's
Haibane Renmei. Probably not good for under 10, but it's a real nice series that touches on lots of spiritual themes without really being preachy.

I'm a fairly huge fan of Last Exile, although yes, the ending did seem to be a bit disjointed in some places.
As for Evangelion, I thought it was a great series IMO. Now, the 'best' that all of those anime otaku's say, no. But great in its own way still. And yes, not all the characters are all that likeable, but to an extent, that's the way it should be I guess (I mean, Shinji? He makes me want to beat the **** for being the coward that he was).
