SYDNEY, Dec 1 (Reuters) - An Australian court sentenced a HIV-infected man to 12 years jail on Thursday for deliberately spreading the disease through unprotected sex with two women.
Stanislas Kanengele-Yondjo, 41, pleaded guilty to infecting two women, from Ireland and Germany, in Sydney in 2003, local media reported.
The District Court in Sydney heard that he had told both women that he did not have the virus, despite being diagnosed HIV positive four years earlier.
Both women have since been diagnosed as HIV positive.
Judge Warwick Andrew told Kanengele-Yondjo that his actions showed "a poverty of spirit and moral bankruptcy which beggars belief", Australian Associated Press reported from court.
The judge sentenced Kanengele-Yondjo to a total of 12 years jail -- six years for each offence, with a non-parole period of four and a half years for each offence.
