Columnist Jimmy Breslin: Clinton holds 'new North American record for fakery'
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., is coming under heavy fire for her continued support of the war in Iraq, with some of the strongest rhetoric against her coming from the political left.
"Hillary Clinton today holds the new North American record for fakery," writes Newsday columnist Jimmy Breslin. "She copies. She sneaks and slithers past you with her opinion on a war that kills every day."
Breslin unleashed his scathing attack on the New York Democrat after reading a mailing sent out by the senator's campaign packed with questions being asked by Clinton: I go through the rest of the pamphlet. "How concerned are you that President Bush is not doing enough to get Americans back to work, create more jobs and get the economy moving again?
"How concerned are you that the massive budget deficits caused by Republican economic and tax policies will inevitably result in drastic cuts in Social Security, Medicare, education and social services?"

There are ... now more than 2,000 young Americans who have died in Iraq. She wants to be a candidate for president and she doesn't even mention our dead, or our next dead.
Mrs. Clinton was also slammed last night in a speech by Cindy Sheehan, the so-called "Peace Mom" who previously labeled the senator a "war hawk."
"I'm not a carpetbagger like someone else we know," Sheehan said at the State University College at Oneonta, N.Y. "I think she really needs to represent the state of New York."
When asked about a possible Clinton run for the presidency in 2008, Sheehan said, "I am not going to make the mistake of supporting a pro-war candidate even if she is a Democrat."

LOL, perfect. Such faux-WASP-ish, NY affectation. I once was acquainted with a well-known direct mail consultant from Pound Ridge, who constantly referred to her husband in the first person as "Himself."
This may be a newsflash but Hillary isn't a demonical genius and the Democrat base is not this monolith in perfect accord managing this great masquerade of discord that will ultimately vanish when she gets the nomination (as is the plan).
Nope.
I don't buy it.
The truth is that Hillary is a Marxist at her core. Whereas her husband was a triangulation type of guy with no core values he was above trading if to his advantage. Clinton won election through triangulation. Hill doesn't think her marxist views will win her election, she did watch her Hillarycare flame out. She's attempting to mimic her husband, to less success.
The Hard left sees her as a sell out to her Core being. Imagine Reagan selling out the heart of conservatism for political expediency. It's a shot in the gut to this group.
They don't like her. This is not an act.
Would they support her if chosen? Yeah. They sucked it up and supported kerry. Doesn't mean they want her to represent them. She isn't a sure thing, if she was, she'd never have put out that jump the shark fence straddling comment on the Iraq war yesterday. That's the act of a woman that is coming to realize they aren't going to settle for a wink and a nod and GIVE her this nomination as she had assumed.
hillary knows what she's doing.
she has to try and convince the moderate voters that she isn't as far left as she really is, so she has to vote certain ways at times and say certain things to get the far left wackos riled up to make herself appear 'moderate'
she's hoping the uninformed voting moderates will believe what the liberal media feeds them......hillary is moderate......hillary is moderate....hillary is moderate...repeat until brainwashed.
hillary knows she has to try to appear moderate for the swing voters, and she knows the extreme wacko fringe will still throw their support behind her because their leaders know it's a scam

We all remember those slogans. Hillary's problem is our economy is fantastic, unemployment near record levels. She figures Iraq will be settled before 2008 and off the news. She can only hope the economy turns upside down for a 2008 run.
Breslin's skills curdled into poison and hate at least a decade ago. He hasn't written anything interesting since.
