Ive always felt that for a first offense there should be a fine that hurts but doesn't put them out of business. A second offense should bring jail.
I've always thought that the day a McDonalds is raided, the owners and managers jailed, and the establishment sold at public auction to the loss of the finance company, there would be a mass panick to fire all the illegals.
"Ive always felt that for a first offense there should be a fine that hurts but doesn't put them out of business. A second offense should bring jail."
Amen
I think most employers are in compliace of laws therefore not maney would be fined or go to jail
If someone is accused (not convicted) of evading taxes or dealing in illegal drugs, or owning an unapproved firearm, they lose everything until they prove their innocence -- the houses, cars, boats, the business, and their bank accounts, and the bank accounts of their wives and kids.
Those employing illegals are causing much more harm to the culture, economy and national security than either drug dealers or tax evaders, IMHO. They should lose everything - and they definitely should be put out of business, as much so as the drug dealers. Businesses that can abide by the law will rise to fill the gap.
A third offense should lead to confiscation of the business.
That said, we need to provide a means to identify illegals. The social security office needs to have a smart database that when an employer calls to verify a sosh, it will figure out if the employee could actually be working this job. It should also give distinguishing qualities to help the employee figure out if the candidate is legit.
Many illegals are buying and providing fake ids. The federal check on employees was way too slow at the time that I last heard.
