JAKARTA (AFP): A 25-year-old Indonesian woman suspected of suffering from bird flu has died in a Jakarta hospital, its spokesman said Wednesday.
Sri Wahyuni, who returned positive results to initial tests for the deadly H5N1 avian influenza strain carried out by the Indonesian health ministry, died at Sulianti Saroso Hospital Tuesday, said spokesman Ilham Patu.
Further tests are being conducted at the World Health Organization laboratory in Hong Kong to confirm whether Wahyuni is Indonesia's eighth bird flu fatality and 13th case in the world's fourth most populous country.
More than a dozen deaths are suspected to have occurred here, with an overstretched health system battling to respond to outbreaks and animal health experts also struggling to keep track of numerous clusters of bird infections.
Wahyuni, a housewife, was admitted to the hospital, the main center for treatment of bird flu patients in Indonesia, showing symptoms of the virus on Nov. 24. She had been transferred from a general hospital in nearby Tangerang, where she was treated for three days.
Bird flu has claimed more than 60 lives in Asia since 2003.
Scientists warn that continued contact between infected birds and humans may eventually result in the virus mutating into a form that could be easily passed on by humans, sparking a pandemic that could kill millions.
Indonesia -- which was accused of covering up initial outbreaks of bird flu -- has pledged a year-long fight against the virus, which will include house-to-house checks and culls.

In the CFR transcripts, the expert Indonesian fellow admitted that the [at that time, as of a few days ago] nine Indonesians who had died from the Avian flu was but the tip of the iceberg, and he also said that they really had no idea how many people had gotten it.

There are five transcipts; I only read two.
Yikes!
Those transcripts are quite interesting. I'll try to read another one or two. Of course, some of their political views that they sneak in are sickening, and it is the notorious CFR, but they've got people from various organizations and disciplines.
Possible human to human.
