I would like to see one person on this thread propose some practical idea to get 13 Million people out of the woodwork, and become legal. Or, for that matter, explain to me how one goes about having law enforcement deport 13 Million Illegal alliens?

Easy.

A) Close down the border. When you're bleeding to death, the first order of business is to staunch the wound.

B) Remove the financial incentive for being here. That can be accomplished very quickly by making the hiring of illegals costly...very costly....to the employers. The Bush Administration has signally failed to do this...to simply enforce the laws that are already on the books. BTW, in his speech, you will notice that he didn't talk of punishing these scofflaws. Quite the contrary. He spoke of HELPING them!

C) Step up interior enforcement. Come on. Communities all over America have illegals everywhere now. It's no secret, and no mystery where to find them.

By the way, your 'thirteen million' figure is a joke. It's more like thirty million plus.

Being you are an expert, who is going to monitor business to see if they are employing illegals? What would a business have to do to prove it was innocent? How would a disagreement between the employer and the government be resolved? How pays for the government inspectors and do you create another government bureau to administrate them? What would be the cost of compliance to the economy/
And finally, HOW IN THE HELL ARE GOING TO GET CONGRESS TO PASS THE LAWS NEEDED TO DO WHAT YOU WANT?
I`m sure you have carefully thought about this and I`m looking forward to your answers. Oh, forgot to ask, what about the courts? What happens when they stick their nose into your ideas?
