Hillary Clinton: Iraq War Vote a Mistake
For the first time since she voted to authorize the Iraq war three years ago, 2008 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is now saying that vote was a mistake - in an apparent move to pacify growing dissatisfaction with her position among the Democratic Party's left-wing base.
"If Congress had been asked [to authorize the war], based on what we know now, we never would have agreed," Clinton said, in an email sent to her supporters on Tuesday.
While saying she took full responsibility for her error, Clinton repeatedly insisted that she had been misled by "false" intelligence on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction presented by the Bush administration.
Citing "assurances they gave that they would first seek to resolve the issue of weapons of mass destruction peacefully through United Nations sponsored inspections," Clinton lamented: "Their assurances turned out to be empty ones."

BINGO.
The Clinton's thrive on the art of "triangulation". This was Hillary's prefered route to the W.H.
To do this marks her as DESPERATE.
There is absolutely no way she'd say this if she thought she had the nomination locked up. She has just shown her hand to the rest of the field, however, as being weak. This will embolden the other Democrats sensing the Opening has widened for them to take the '08 nom over her.
Meanwhile the 'cut and run' moniker will not help a female, and I'm one, that wants to be Commander-In-Chief in the General election. She is no Maggie Thatcher.
I've said for a long while she isn't a lock, and this act of desperation proves it. Either they'll go hard left, or they'll go with Warner. The Clinton years are almost over. A primary defeat in '08 will make her akin to Kennedy. A has been. A once run who's best days are behind him.
Well said. I think of Hillary as a lawyer.
I keep hoping to wake up and find out that Shrillary and Chuckie are senators from some other state. It never happens.
We can use this to rip her to shreds in the general election, after her primary opponents open the door.
Somebody better get the ol' silk screener out-
"Hillary's Waffle House" t-shirts, anyone?
And base they are.
That may be an idea....
Hillary's Waffle House
Causes Up - Chuck.
I Don't Want Either!
"... Clinton repeatedly insisted that she had been misled by "false" intelligence ..."
Hmmmmm?? I don't think she and Bubba had any problems with the "intelligence" when Bubba was bombing all over Iraq ..??
How about...
Hillary's Waffle House
Causes Up - Chuckie.
I Refuse To Eat There!
I agree. She must be getting serious pressure from the leftwing money men, who may be getting nervous about the progress in Iraq. For the timing to make sense we have to see this in the context of the orchestrated anti-American attacks by Durbin, Murtha, Rockefeller, et al, leading up to the Iraqi elections.
'Rats backstabbing their own country are not a pretty sight.
Hillary's gettin' right with the left.
Leiberman still has enough of a solid reputation in his party, even if the Hard Left hates him, that his statements today do make waves, and DO detract from Hillary's comments.
This is what happens when someone follows polls or lets themselves be dictated by their lunatic fringe rather than principle.
The woman is neither the smartest on the planet nor the most adept politician. Without the MSM, handlers usually keeping her under lockdown and her husband's ability to lie with ease she'd never have had a prayer.
She isn't likeable. She's naturally shrill. She doesn't have good political instincts. She has an adequate intelligence but surely is not a genius. She is only endeared to the Katie's and MoDo's of the world that make up a very small percentage on the Left. She isn't quick on her feet.
She'd be a disaster in a concentrated year long campaign. Kerry tried to avoid the press, but he eventually had to come out of hiding. To disastrous effect. So would she. This is why Republicans that don't fear her want her to be chosen.
what conscience and principles??????
The winner of the prestigous "Joseph Goebels Propaganda Award". For the Nth year in a row. A dynasty, in a twisted manner of speaking.
hilllereee is so passe. So feminists. Soooooo boring and dull. Her days for Presidetn have long since passed.
The ones she claimed she had when first explaining why she favored the vote.
Oh I know what you meant. I was being sarcastic in asking about her conscience and principles. She has niether in my opinion. Neither.
I think you're right. Their window of opportunity is closing fast and they have to make their play now. Never thought I'd say this, but thank God for Joe Lieberman. He really threw a monkey-wrench into their plans this week.
...or crowd the polls and follow the check.
I hope that the RNC nails her wide load to the wall with her lies...especially with all of the statements by her husband, Billy the Red Nosed Reindeer.
