IT's okay, I would have agreed with you. Unless I miss my mark, I'm thinking you're referring to the Buchananite/Novak wing of the conservative movement, a movement of isolationist small-thinkers I've had issue with for many, many years. Their protectionism and advocacy for fortress America are galling to me, and to my thinking contradict true conservatism, just like the vituperative America-bashing we see coming out of the left contradicts the FDR/Truman/JFK model of foreign activism and liberationist thinking.

Yup, them. Maybe being liberal I haven't fully examined the distinction & I probably should.
