From what I saw and heard at the various NYC HQs, his campaign was very badly run.

In his defense he had zero support from Pataki & Co. (which now seems to be Pirro's problem) and had so little time to gather the funds needed to go against that DNC fat cat with a huge campaign war chest. Remember he was not well known and had to make up so much lost time and fill mightly large shoes once Rudy pulled out.

Ah, that's right about the lack of support from Pataki & Co. Thanks for jarring my memory on that.

Got my first solicitation letter from Pirro yesterday. I'm afraid I won't (can't, actually) be running down to NYC this time to volunteer for her campaign. We'll see how things shape up with Campaign 2006 this summer I guess...

Mo Dowd to be on Letterman momentarily, if you're interested... ;-)

Actually, the Lazio-Giuliani campaign outspent Hillary-by a pretty substantial margin, if I recall correctly.
