Speeding wastes Gasoline

Crossing from California into Nevada on I 80 I once was pulled over (I was doing 80 in a 65). Instead of a speeding ticket, the officer "cut me a break" and I got a ticket for "wasting fuel" the fine was $25.00. I always thought that was a stupid ticket, but I sure was glad it was on the books! This was about seven years ago, perhaps Nevada's laws have changed.

That is a standard ticket issued to out of state speeders. Nevada doesn't have to take you to court, you don't have to appear in court and you feel so happy that it wasn't worse! These tickets increase their revenue tremendously. I was given one for doing 70 in a 65 zone while Nevadans passed me like I was standing still. I guess I was the only one the guy could catch, right? Out of staters need to be careful while driving in Nevada!
