Spanish, the language spoken in Mexico and most of South America is also comes from Latin.
That's why the call it Latin America.

The English language falls under a branch of the Indo-European family, which also includes Latin and German, among others.
Spanish is NOT a major influence upon the English language, NOR is the country Mexico.
Rather, the word roots from LATIN have formulated many English words, and those within the Romance languages, i.e., French, Italian, and Spanish.
Maybe a more simplistic explanation is what you need.
There's a family of brothers and sisters. Some speak in Latin, others German, and still others in Lithuanian
They have children. One child speaks English; another child speaks Spanish. Yet another child speaks French.
Though the cousins may have borrowed some ideas and words with each other, it was their parents who most influenced them in their language development.
As usual, it's really best not to put the cart before the horse.
