If they are hiring significant numbers of illegal immigrants it should be easy to prove.

However, criminal investigation and law enforcement isn't the responsibiliy of those companies, it's the responsibility of the government.

The companies have a duty to make a reasonable attemt to determine someone's employability. However, if they have a driverslicens and SSN, then it's the government that is failing in their duty, not the employer. Investigating employess beyond a reasonable check is an invasion of privacy and likely violates employment laws.

Employers need to be held accountable if they are purposfully hiring illegal immigrants, but it's the government that in most cases has the information and authority to investigate illegal employees. The IRS is especially well equipped since they receive the payments to these bogus SSNs, yet they don't investigate.
