It's the Oprah Syndrome. They're expecting three MORE truckloads of free designer clothing and diamond rings and giant plush toys. At least, that's my best guess.
I was just thinking over how many years me and my family went without even so much as a tree due to costs, inorder to share one gift each. And a nice Christmas turkey.
This year is tough for us, we have braces on both childrens teeth, and are looking forward to crowns, and a bridge with the missing teeth for my son. I guess he's getting his two front teeth for christmas.
Other medical expenses still being covered as well. Gall gladder surgery my son had this past year. If I didn't have an artificial tree we've used for the past few years, I wouldn't know what to do.
I'm training to go back to work. Things will get better. It is only this year, possibly next that will be tight.
I saw Oprah the other day when she gave 50 or so hurricane families a "free house." They visited the land where the new homes are to be built and showed the houseplans.
I hope she does a follow-up show showing how this new neighborhood looks after the people have been living there for about five years.
If they're all like the woman featured in this story, I can't imagine how awful the neighborhood will look.
