Seventy percent of people surveyed said that criticism of the war by Democratic senators hurts troop morale--with 44 percent saying morale is hurt "a lot," according to a poll taken by RT Strategies. Even self-identified Democrats agree: 55 percent believe criticism hurts morale, while 21 percent say it helps morale. . . .

Respondents were asked if they thought efforts to establish a successful democracy there will succeed or fail:
It's just like having to work with negative people all day long. They affect the entire staff's morale. Same with negative news being fed to our troops and to America.

Interesting.
I would have expected some to say "yes, it hurts morale, but it's worth it to get our troops home" or some such blather.
It surprises me to hear that they believe it "helps" morale.
"How does it do that?", I wonder.
71% of so-called foreign policy "experts" expect failure in Iraq. I'm not surprised. These people with their Cold War "business as usual" approach to the world are the reason we got blind-sided on 9/11. As far as I'm concerned, the old guard foreign policy experts have no credibility, and if they have their panties in a knot over W's policies, then Bush must be doing something right.
That's a fact.
Write to the troops to let them know this isn't how we feel.
good point
Yes he is, and he doesn't get much credit for it.
Liberals are evil beings.
In reading emails from soldiers in Iraq, and talking with some who have returned, I hear a patttern:
Enlisted personnel are put off by MSM media reporting, but not demoralized. They just go about their business for the most part, convinced that they are doing soemthing important and proper in Iraq. Some are angered, and say so in private emails. When asked in public, they tend to reply that the subject is "above my pay scale."
Lower and middle rank officers are more affected, some are angry, others somewhat demoralized by negative reporting. They worry more about the political scene, and the public perception.
Colonels and Generals keep a very stiff upper lip, and don't tip their hand. They understand the politics of the situation, and try to stay clear. They seem to be cynical (probably from more experience), and fairly impervious to the tone of reporting. (In private emails, many are pissed.)
Any military personnel than want to agree or disagree with these comments, please do so. I'm always looking for more input from the source.
How about a poll that asks "Do you believe criticism of the war by Democratic senators will hurt their re-election chances?" That might get their attention.
-21 percent say it helps morale-
Yes, it DOES help the 21%'s morale to degrade America and our troops. Since that would be the "intellectual" crowd, you can bet they didn't understand the question.
Stupid and evil are not mutually exclusive.
I am hopeful that they are not demoralized and have a soldier's name and address that I will write to
Senators generally know how to win their own elections. Good point
You are right. The intellectual crowd likely did not get the question.
