Dr. De La Haye To Study Prevention and Treatment Models
A psychiatrist, Dr. De La Haye is chief resident at the University Hospital of the West Indies in Jamaica, where he treats patients with psychiatric and addiction disorders. As a Medical Officer for the Ministry of Health and the Jamaica Defense Force, Dr. De La Haye assisted in drug interdiction efforts, which fostered his interest in demand reduction efforts and the correlation between drug abuse and violence. During his Fellowship, Dr. De La Haye will study U.S. models for drug abuse education, prevention, and treatment. His goals include developing comprehensive drug abuse policies that will foster more effective demand reduction programs for students and young adults, improve service delivery, and reduce the drug-related incidence of infections and violence. He earned his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from the University of the West Indies and his medical degree from the University Medical School of Pecs, Hungary.Still looking...
Phil, I am seeking a Foundation Grant to complete my seminal work on the peoples of the Caribbean from the yachtsman's point of view. I call it the KBUI, the Kenny Bunk Uselessness Index. The KBUI is intended to help yachtsmen know what their chances are of getting any useful, or timely assistance in their jaunts about the drug-infested Caribbean.
The Jamaicans rate about a KBUI 5. They are completely wack, mon, on de ganja about 85% of the time. In the evening, they switch to alcohol, then sleep on the blacktopped roads, which retains heat. This leads to a certain attrition every evening. Oddly enough, once removed from the Island, they are stout lads to a man! It's not good, but they are positively Swiss in comparison to the Bahamans at KBUI3. Although generally toxic, they are in turn, a model of industry when compared to the uniformly useless toads of Belize, at KBUI.5. In addition to truly outstanding sloth, these tropical wastrels are given to spouting annoying commie propaganda beamed their way by Radio Cuba, whenever addressed by an American.
I need funding to continue the KBUI, because as you can see, this is info every yachtsman should have, before venturing into a Caribbean port. For example, I understand the US Citizens of St. Croix are second to no one in the 'Dangerous Lethargy and Poor Attitude' categories, and thus deserve at least a look for the KBUI. But unless I am funded, I shan't be able to refit my shaggy Crocker cutter for this important voyage of discovery. I may also need to venture inland, away from the waterfront, as many of my pals tell me I am becoming cynical and ignoring the many good people who do not hang out dockside.
This young Dr. De La Haye would be a splendid addition to the crew, if as nothing else, he could serve as a fund raiser and grant writer.
