I believe in the state of Texas (and probably other states) it is standard operating procedure to put down any stray pit bulls immediately. It is against Texas law to adopt out such predators. I can see no earthly reason to allow this breed to exist. These are not "wild" animals like lions, bears and wolves. They are simply unpredictable killers who have no place in civilized society.
