We subsequently talked about the university professor who has a large reward out for any Vietnam vet who could prove they were spat upon. The prof claims it's an "urban myth".
When I told hm that anyone who could claim that money (because they had the proof in writing) would fly there to claim it for free because I'd buy the plane ticket just to see that prof have to shut his mouth.
Interesting post.
I remember the first time the National Guard showed up in Berkeley for the People's Park riots.Several street people began throwing objects at their lines and calling them"pigs".
New Left leaders actually jumped between the soldiers and the crazies telling them to stop harassing"our brothers".
I know it was cynical Leftist opportunism but there were differences among segments of the Left back then.
The Prof is pretty safe in his offer and knows it, because it was a different world then, those things weren't reported to the police- the spitter either ran away or got his butt kicked and that was the end of it.
I would bet very few of our soldiers even now would make a report of an incident like that- it's a shame really though because the left will once again say it never happened if there is not proof.
