Mike Maple/The Commercial Appeal Lance Corporal Abraham McCarver (left), a Marine and Silver Star recipient, is home visiting relatives for the holiday. McCarver is on his third tour in Iraq but is due to get out of the Marines in April. Younger brother Joshua, 20, a West Point cadet, doesn't act too impressed with the hero. At center is dad Daniel, and at far right their grandfather Ken.
Lance Corporal McCarver's award.

I read yesterday that Bruce Willis is disgusted with Hollywood's portrayal of our soldiers and is making a very positive movie about the heroic efforts of our military. This would make a great movie; thanks for the ping.

I've already left this message on this thread but will repeat it here.
Bruce Willis is disgusted with Hollywood's portrayal of our soldiers and is planning a movie which shows the heroics of our military; this story would be an excellent one for someone in Hollywood to write about.

Thanks for the ping MNJ. What an uplifting story. My prayers for the heroes Abraham McCarver has seen fall during his time in America's service. I am sure Abraham will go far in life. We will hear more of him. Godspeed Lance Corporal Abraham McCarver.

Great story about a humble but brave soldier. Awesome.
That said, I wished I was 20 years younger. What a cutie!

We were there another three or four hours because we weren't leaving the vehicle there," McCarver said. "We had a dead Marine inside." Says it all right there.

Great story about a humble but brave soldier. Awesome. Excuse me, but he's a Marine, not a soldier. You wouldn't refer to a black person by using the "N" word. So please don't refer to a Marine by calling him a soldier. It's very insulting and disrespectful.

Yikes!
Good grief, I didn't mean to insult or disrespect.
Please accept my humble apologies from an ignorant, but nonetheless grateful civilian, Sir.

I didn't make it to church today. That's OK, your post was better than a sermon. Thanks.
