I agree 100%. "Sport hunting" is a disgrace, in my opinion, if it is done strictly for the kill and the trophy rather than, at least partly, for good eating and warm coats. The friends who I let bow hunt on my property love the meat, and they load me up with all the venison I want, including the deer jerky I put in my kids' lunches.

If I thought that these guys just wanted to hunt for the sake of killing animals, I wouldn't let them down my driveway.

And by the way, people who shoot bears for the "thrill" of it are sick. Probably homosexual. Bear meat is virtually inedible unless it is smoked big-time by people who know how to smoke bear meat.

I've been harvesting and consuming bear meat for over 35 years, and it is great meat. You have to take care of it a little differently from the time it hits the ground but it does not have to be smoked to be good.
Bears are actually a member of the pig family, and that is the way you have to treat the meat. Coll it out fast, cut the excess fat off and cook it well done. I don't know why they didn't put a picture of wild hogs up too. I always eat what I kill.

No Trophies are needed, except for the weak show-off type of folks, IMO.

Let me clue you in on a few things there bucko. First of all it it illegal to trophy hunt and waste the meat. That will land you in jail. Secondly, bear meat is delicious. I had a bear roast recently that tasted just like prime rib. Bears are closely related to pigs, and taste very similar to pork. What you need is a good cookbook, and an education on modern day game management and regulations.

Always heard that. Do you think it's the bear-skin rug attraction?
