Believe it or not, in the area we hunt there was not one shot fired yesterday or today. As near as we could count, there were 30 hunters in the woods where we were and, although you did run accross one now and then, it wasn't crowded. My grandson talked with almost all of them and there were 4 anterless deer seen and that was it. We didn't see any, however, today we saw 8 in one group (anterless). That is all we saw in 2 long days of hunting. We could have taken two but decided not to do it, at least not until the last day, if then. It is terrible there. I hunted this same area as a young man and we had plenty of deer, now they are not there. The guy that farms the farm ( if you want to call it farming) where we go into the mountain is driving around in a pickup at night and gut shooting deer just to get rid of them. I know this is a strong statement but several locals told us this is what is happening to them. I believe the ones remaining have changed their habits and those that are left are doing different things to avoid this guy.
good luck and be careful out there. Young deer meat is very good eating.
