I respect that reply....except for the "trophy" part. No Trophies are needed, except for the weak show-off type of folks, IMO.

So it is okay to kill things. You just don't like the motives of some?

Motive or reason would be everything... Forget hunting... Isn't there a difference between murder and killing an attacker in self defense? In both cases, a human being has died. But society will allow one, and treats the other as a crime.

I should say that I have no problem with hunters, no matter what their reason. Although I have no interest in hunting. I've hunted in the past, and I've decided that I'm just far too lazy to go hunting again. I'd much rather buy and BBQ a steak than clean a deer.

I agree with your point as stated, but hunting isn't self defense or even survival. It is a sport. Whether the sport results in a dinner or a set of antlers on the wall is of little consequence in saying it is a good thing or a bad thing.

Some posters seem to be saying it is okay to kill an animal if your reason is that you prefer venison to steak, but not if you simply enjoy the challenge of the sport. I don't accept that logic.
