"Hunting is what man was designed to do. All of mans skills come into focus when hunting. The hunt is the very essence of life."

How come I wasn't "designed" to hunt, then?

Look, the essence of this thread is to point to those who waste wild animal life under the guise of "Sport-Hunting". If a person is absolutely starving and a store is miles away and ALL of the animal is utlized, then I can see the reason to hunt. However, I do not see the need to hunt in America in this day and age. There are stores in every town. USDA raised and stamped food can be found there; retailers who rely on the consumer to purchase from them.

Why in the USA is anyone compelled to hunt? The "hunt" is the very essence of negativity, not the "very essence of life", IMO.

Civilization requires that some aspects of human behavior be suppressed. This is codified in "Common Law" The various laws of the states regulate where and when a citizen can hunt, but not if he can hunt.

The stalk is the best part of hunting. Sometimes I "kill" with a camera.

Hey, is it our fault you were born with a handicap? Just adapt, will ya? ;o)

Seriously, while you choose to eat USDA-approved foods, others don't. Some of us consider wild life much healthier than the hormony-treated animals and would rather eat that if possible, regardless of the store right around the corner. You have your standards, we have ours. You just keep eating your processed meat and we'll make good use out of God's provisions the way He intended us to. Sure beats the waste of good meat from being road kill or diseased due to over-population.

Why should I have to pay for something I can kill myself?
You are almost one of them. You think I should be forced to have someone else kill my food.
That is a very strange thought.
What is the matter with me relying on me?

There are stores in every town. USDA raised and stamped food can be found there...

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/fr/676753/posts We're not quite there yet — one USDA worker for every farmer — but we're getting closer everyday. Over the past 30 years in the United States, the number of full-time farmers has fallen by about half, but the number of USDA employees has increased by nearly 50%. And the dollars paid out by the USDA to the shrinking number of farmers has accelerated even more rapidly.

So Frankly, you are a USDA supporting conservative? Would it be OK with you if every hunter had to be assigned to report to a USDA agent? Frankly, when one finds themselves in a hole; it is best to quit shoveling.

You were not "designed" to hunt because of genetic and environmental deficiencies. These factors have contributed to your role as a discontented parasite upon our society; driven to attempt asserting control over the pleasure and behavior of the very society that sustains your miserable and petty existence.

Blame Mother Nature. You (the collective human you) were designed as prey, who's only defense was to clime a tree.

Our brain changed that. We picked up a rock, a sharp stick, and found that with them our status as a food animal for other beasts had shifted significantly. We became a predator.

So today we can choose a wide variety of occupations and we are not limited to prey or hunter. You can choose to eat veggies and laugh in the face of your body's need for an omnivorous diet. Other can choose to eat meat and continue to hunt or not as they see fit.

That choice all stems from the first one of us that saw the danger and found out he could do something about it. We only THINK that the changes that have happened do not continue today.

Time will tell if you are correct or not. Tell your friends, teach your children. The next test of Nature will come in the form of war, or civilization's collapse, or famine or astronomical event, and you and yours will stand aganist me and mine. Winner take all.

Nature isn't friendly, she is a wild bitch and it's a ride with consequence.

You obviously don't know what happens to the cows, pigs, and chickens. Hunting is FAR more humane.
