Published academic book (well reviewed) on the history of banking before even finishing an MA; published two books on different subjects (including one touted in Barry Goldwater's biography) before finishing Ph.D.; was Economic History Association semi-finalist for best dissertaion on economic history (p.s., I never took an econ or busines class in my life);
published 20+ books on American history, and articles in prestigious Business History Review (Harvard); Civil War History; Historian; Pacific Historical Review; Western Historical Quarterly; Journal of Southern History; and Southern Studies;
Published an article in Journal of Economic History about the Dred Scott case and its impact on the Panic of 1857 that is probably the most frequently cited article EVER on the "Panic of 1857";
Frequent reviewer for Journal of American History, Journal of Economic History, Business History Review, and American Historical Review;
Directed and edited three encyclopedias of American history; served as expert referee on U.S. history on three separate National Endowment for the Humanities panels;
Taught U.S. history at 10-12th grade; then at four different U.S. universities, including Wisconsin and U. of Dayton;
Has published more on the Civil War than probably 99% of the posters on Free Republic.
I guess none of this counts because I happen to think history shows Lincoln was right.
