I am by no means a lib, but I have thought about this often... To be honest, I do not know if these folks over there can handle freedom like ours. Some may, but some may not. I do not believe some of the cultures in the ME are able to be civilized enough to govern and live like it is intended to be. Freedom comes from a responsible civil society.
Now I'm not sticking up for the Lib in the story, I'm just stating an opinion on the subject.

I agree. Their society is such that they will have a very hard time accepting the results of any election. I think that will be the biggest challenge for them. Hopefully they'll get it right... we'll find out soon enough.

To be honest, I do not know if these folks over there can handle freedom like ours. Wasn't this EXACTLY what was said about the Japanese after WWII?

Freedom comes from a responsible civil society.
Freedom comes from our Creator, an inalienable right.

I heard a Marine captain speak about how the population are like battered victims. They don't know any better.
Concur that they are not like us right now, but peace and democracy is what any decent human being desires, so long term I am hopeful.
