As soon as the conversation took this turn, we mothers quickly herded the children from the dinner table into another room for video games.
Video games in Iran in 1978??? My, how the poor do suffer during times of war.

ty for the article on iran. our son was one when we moved to esfahan. there were many good times together there - with newly made friends - and my husband and son (i loved sitting on the porch looking at the stars with you frank). there were scary times of no electricity, tank fire, helicopters landing in the housing development with iranian soldiers, and threats of having poisoned the drinking water. my son and i had to evacuate and leave my husband there - it was horrible. i remember seeing the news stating the shah had left iran and i cried because i knew we'd never be going back to the iran we'd known. blessedly my husband got to leave with the last of the americans in february/march 1979, and arrived safely back to us. so thanks again for the memories.
