I think Kipling wrote of the Sudanese who are right next door to Somalia: "So here is to you, Fuzzy-Wuzzy, at your home in the Sudan; You're a poor benighted heathen but a first class fighting man.
Of course we should also remember that the British did beat them and the Somalis lost hundreds or even thousands at Mogadishu.
They are tough I am sure but mostly they just outnumbered us probably a thousand to one.

Boy, that's a real upper. Looks like a dim future for the "pastoral nomadism" biz in 1.6% arable land beset with famine and ecological desolation. Career Pirate sounds like a good lateral move.

They do have resources - ALL of Africa does - its the governments - See Zimbwabe - used to be the "breadbasket" of Africa - now most are starving - See Mugabe. Very sad. Maybe the UN can help. ;-(

They sure do have resources. The same can be said of Mexico. In a geography class maybe 40 years ago we were shown that Mexico should be a wealthy country. A tremendous amount of natural resources good climate, just about everthing needed, yet is is not.
Same could be said for many African countries. Must be the lingering effects of those evil colonialists.

I wonder if, when they take the mother ship, they'll find those Heaven's Gate wierdos. Didn't they all commit suicide thinking that would be their ticket to the mother ship?
