I am not saying that different cultures that came to this country should have left their foods, sayings, beliefs and such behind. That is not only good, it IS what has made this country great. We take the good things others bring and make them American.

Excellent point rlmore1,
These are the very things that made the US the greatest nation in the history of the world (I am biased but this is my opinion). I think it's amazing being able to sample foods, architecture and customs of other nations without leaving our own.
The problem is the immigrants refusing to identify themselves as Americans. They can stay in their country of origin and maintain the status quo.
That said I think I'll go to Mexico and complain that I can't find a restaurant that serves the type of American food I ate in my home as a child. Then I'll whine about the television and radio being primarily in Spanish. Next I'll demand they take down their flags. Why won't they fly the American flag alone and make everyone stand up for it? How long do you think they would tolerate this Bovine Scatology? It would be wrong to expect of them and it is wrong for anyone, especially Americans, to expect it of the US.

You said it much better than I did.
And yes. We are biased. Is there a problem?...:)
