If I am not mistaken, the guy gamer ought to know that the female non gamer will win EVERY time, if you know what I mean...they ought to listen up.
One more reason why I am so very grateful for my UNIX geek & FPS gamer wife!
(That woman kicks my butt in Battlefield 2!)
The trouble is likely that modern video games are more interesting than modern women.
What losers.
What happened to the old stand-bys: booze, gambling, and other women...?
I'll never understand the new generation...
A lot of guys in my dorm play video games. I don't really have much time to do so; what time I have I use for Freeping.
When I do play games, if a girl comes in, the game is off. I would much rather get to know an interesting girl than play the computer.
here ya go: it's day one of the Alito hearings and it is bound to be contentious. a cute girl comes by to visit, but you want to follow the freep running dialogue of the hearings, what do you do? ; )
Please share your secret to getting her into gaming. My wife was hooked on Bejewelled, and things were fine until she got tired of it and wanted to "talk". Ugh! I can barely put ideas and thoughts in enough order for me to understand them. There is no way I can communicate them beyond, I am thinking how great it would be if YOU played 'America's Army'."
Easy, tell her to shut her pie hole, argue for 15 minutes until she doesn't want to speak to you for a week. Blessed silence.
they do it all and game....
OTOH, addiction in any form is unhealthy and needs to be dealt with. Again, treatment can only begin when the addict accepts that they have a problem.
We control our children's access to video games. Weekend only unless they've done something outstanding. Both the kids got straight A's in school on the card this Wednesday and are excellent in karate and do well with scouting.
Being that they enjoy games and have been pretty darn good kids, we're letting them have at it for a while today.
But for the most part, they don't have ready access to such.
Hopefully the control we excert will become practice for them on their own in the future. Balance is everything but it's not possible without discipline. I guess we'll see how it works out.

A frequent source of conflict between my wife and I: I don't like to stop playing a game to talk to my wife about "How was your day? Do you like this outfit? When are you going to clean out the garage?"
hey, i am happily married for 20 years. i have no problems following what i am interested in and my husband does the same. we are both avidly interested in politics, though the hub doesn't freep, i will fill him in on what i learn here and send him interesting links. now when my 14 yo son is old enough to have a girlfriend, she will be joining one of these clubs, because he is xbox obsessed.
I would much rather get to know an interesting girl than play the computer.
