If your "scientific" theory says that the Bible is mythology and you force that as the official government position then you have just ended religious freedom -- that's not a neutral position. "Science" cannot give evidence on the claims of the supernatural either pro or con. By definition the supernatural, being outside the ability to observe, can't be studied. Anyone claiming that science has "proved" the existence, or non-existed of God is out of bounds.
However science can evaluate claims such as a worldwide flood and demonstrate its falsity.
By definition the supernatural, being outside the ability to observe, can't be studied. Anyone claiming that science has "proved" the existence, or non-existed of God is out of bounds. Wellll..... not necessarily, and certainly not "by definition." You're assuming way too much.
For example, if there were points of contact between the supernatural and "natural" worlds (as would be the case if God were to do something within history), then one might be able to infer the existence of "something else," even if knowing the full characteristics of that "something else" were beyond us.
"I have great respect for many things the Christian fundimentalists are doing. But creationism/ID is not one of them, and they should be mocked for their support of something that is obviously false, yet taught as "truth"."
The elite are the modern Know Nothings and Flat Worlders, no different than their predecessors.
Absolutely certain God does not exist willing to "do their part" in preventing any challenge to their world view. Also willing to commit any act secure in what they take for knowledge, that there are no consequences for their actions or arrogance.
Here the deal,
God is unlikely to manifest himself in scientifically replicable experiments for the same reason he does not preserve the life of believers in all circumstance (but does in some, I have personally experienced that on several occasions). His gift is not merely life, squirrels have life, his greatest gift remains free will. If I as a believer jump off a 10 story building and set gently down on the ground in a replicable manner everyone will not believe but will know, then the freewill to act in obedience to God (as much as possible at least) is lost with that certainty.
Science is as limited as any of mans endeavors. If past results are any indication a complete scientific understanding of the the world around us will remain as elusive as the search for Justice.
I once sat at a small round table talking with some older guy who I later figured was St Peter. He was reviewing my record book. It was sort of dicey, then this other fellow comes over and sits down. I couldnt stand the suspense any more so I asked
do I get in? The other fellow who turned out to be Jesus took a moment smiled and said
. you decide

Me?"
I am just hoping they have a place in the woods for me INSIDE the gates of Heaven
I hear it is a great place to get together with family and friends, hike, hunt, fish, exercise and not get sore, eat and not get fat, organize the garage (for the umpteenth million time) and work on old trucks. My one concern (sort of) is when target shooting I understand you can't miss and neither can your buddies, which will make who buys lunch problematic.
