WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Pentagon will order an initial eight highly-automated DD(X) destroyers being developed by Northrop Grumman Corp. (NYSE:NOC - news) and General Dynamics (NYSE:GD - news) as the centerpiece of the U.S. Navy's 21st century fleet, a defense official said on Wednesday.
Very good news. Awesome anti ballistic missile sites on sea. Not to mention good for power projection in general.
Woohoo! As an NG employee, this is great news.
Cool concept hope they have the whole security and reliability thing down.
To much automation and our entire fleet could be grounded by an 8 year old virus writer with coke bottle glasses in his bedroom wearing a pocket protector using his old TRS80.
As an IT professional automation quite often scares the hell out of me ;-)
