I agree. I'd personally love to see the Republican party split between the more libertarian types and the theocrats. It'd be the best thing that ever happened. I suspect the theocrats would not get very far.

So, you are a Democrat... hope for a ‘Night of the Long Knives’ in your own party, it is the only thing that will save it for you...

Do you mean to say that you think that most Republicans prior to WWII had more respect for biblical morality and for Christian thought? Families were more stable then, and the economic success of our nation began to really rocket up from THAT generation. Americans of this generation may still think that we are proceeding forward with the same promise of economic success, but we are teetering on the edge. We are operating on a much, much higher percentage of debt, and most of that to foreign antagonists. We are now trying to proceed on our own pride, without any particular blessings of God. He is letting go, as we let go of Him (I mean, as a nation), and the bicycle we are riding has a bent rim.

The Republicans without the Christian (Biblicist) thinkers is NOTHING but the Democratic party. Libertarianism equals libertine-ism. The Constitution which Libertarians claim that they defend will not work for a nation that denies the Faith (and its principles, spiritual, moral and otherwise) that was prominent in the thinking of those who set forth the Constitution.

Those you call "Theocrats" (which would have included almost all of those present at the adoption of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution for the united States) would not go very far today as a political party, because that would probably never be their intent (that is, to proceed as a political party).

The Republican Party, if and when rid of Biblicist thinkers, will go VERY far, absorbing all the bats and moles ("extending the umbrella") of the national moral decline, and will probably, eventually merge into that one, single totalitarian party that will destroy our nation under slavery. After all, the Republican Party is nothing more now than the Democratic Party Light.
