Perhaps in your haste to reply you misunderstood what I said. "Survival of the fittest" as Darwin meant it denotes reproductive fittest and not the fastest or strongest or whatever. Anything that prevents a species from having success in leaving offspring to the next generation is maladaptive. Exclusive homosexuality is exactly that. That's why I wrote that Darwin might indeed have said that homosexuality was a birth defect, defined broadly.
