Hi THere..
Feed the Children is a Christian organization.
They do a LOT of work in Africa.
I give monthly to their Abandoned Baby Center.
I don't know HOW MUCH preaching can be done to infants! LOL!
Their Website can be found here:
http://www.feedthechildren.org/site/PageServer?pagename=dotorg_homepage
If you would like to see the review of their charity or ANY OTHER charity...you can go to this site here:
http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm/bay/search.summary/orgid/3691.htm
IT has a rating system that is clearly defined.
By the way...popular Jewish Talk SHow host Michael Medved touts this charity as a good one!
We sent some money to that group and to Mercy Corps after the tsunami. After we received some material later from Mercy Corps that dissed President Bush, we ditched them and concentrated on CRS.
Without several countries made up of "good-hearted Christian" men and women fighting and dying by the tens of thousands 60 years ago, you and yours might not be here today.
Put that in you Menorah and light it.
We only donate to two charities, The Salvation Army and The Mennonite Disaster Service. They are the only two that we know will actually use what we donate for those in need, not to pad the pockets of those 'running' the charity with huge salaries.
Here's a Jewish One:

The rating isn't as high...
But their mission is good.

These guys could always use some help.
How about some of the wounded soldier programs.
Sorry .. I don't have any names.
I'm a good non-profit candidate...;-)
Heifer International
Salvation Army.
Best ratio of overhead to good works in the industry -- 15% overhead, 85% for good works.
Want to send your support to a Soldier in harm's way, but have no idea of what to send, who to send it to, or how to send it? This site has it all.
Mrs. B.S. Roberts and I just sent two huge packages overseas. One for the male Marines (A CH-53E helicopter squadron in Irag) and one for the female Marines.
There are tons of soldiers who apply to this site and will tell you what they need and exactly where to send it.
I like to know where my charitable donations are going and that they are being put to good use and are appreciated. These troops need us to let them know they are in our hearts and prayers.
Yasher koach!
You'll be celebrating Jesus and Christianity plenty when you recieve that CHRISTmas bonus check.
The Fisher House Program
The Fisher House program is a unique private-public partnership that supports America's military in their time of need. The program recognizes the special sacrifices of our men and women in uniform and the hardships of military service by meeting a humanitarian need beyond that normally provided by the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs.Because members of the military and their families are stationed worldwide and must often travel great distances for specialized medical care, Fisher House Foundation donates "comfort homes," built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful times - during the hospitalization for an unexpected illnes, disease, or injury.
There is at least one Fisher House at every major military medical center to assist families in need and to ensure that they are provided with the comforts of home in a supportive environment. Annually, the Fisher House program serves more than 8,500 families, and have made available more than two million days of lodging to family members since the program originated in 1990. Based on a comparison of fees at a Fisher House (the average charge is less than $10 per family per day, with many locations offering rooms at no cost) with commercial lodging facilities in the same area, it is estimated that families have saved more than $60 million by staying at a Fisher House since the program began.
In addition to constructing new houses, Fisher House Foundation continues to support existing Fisher Houses and help individual military families in need. Families and friends of patients at any of the military's hospitals can now receive up-to-the-minute reports on a loved one by going to the patient's own customized web page, thanks to new services provided through CaringBridge. We are also proud to administer and sponsor Scholarships for Military Children, the Hero Miles program, and co-sponsor the Newman's Own Award.
