It's Thanksgiving morning and I'm not going digging very far. Here's the first hit on "George Allen free trade" on Google. It's from CATO, so take that for what it's worth.

But let me say this, the George Allen I know is not a knee-jerk conservative, and is not a knee-jerk free trader. Simply because he's not a knee-jerk anything.

He's one of the few politicians out there that actually reads and studies the issues. And you don't want to be the staff person that can't answer his questions. Never, I repeat, never, challenge George Allen to a game of Trivial Pursuit. His knowledge, particularly of history, is amazing. And, I know for a fact that as Governor, he never signed anything he hadn't read and understood thoroughly.

So, whatever his stand his here, I can tell you it's not a political stunt. It's because he has thought through the issues. Because he does that, his votes and positions are not always understood until you read deeper.

But, the turkey is in the oven, and that's as far as I'm going today.
