When I worked in Qatar I used to go shopping at a super popular with Americans and Brits and every time there was an employee following me around all over the store. One day I got fed up with it and asked them what the hell they were doing. Ends up they were not concerned about me being a shoplifter they were making sure I didn´t talk to any of the women customers. This is one of the countries that takes a magic marker and lines out the picture of women with skin showing even my CD of Mariah Carey wearing a mini skirt.
In Kuwait it was just as bad and one thing you did not want to do was look at a women. Cause you all kinds of problems if the husband thinks your looking at his wife. Besides if he dosen´t have the balls to confront you he may beat her butt when they get home.
The woman always walks behind her husband when walking in the street or a young girl may walk in front of her family. Sometimes as your walking by the women they will make eye contact, since she is wearing a veil thats all you can see. Some of them can say more with their eyes than most women can talking for an hour. Some veils are slightly transparent and some of the women are very pretty.
As one of the other posters stated there is a lot of sexual frustration in these countries and everyone wants to marry a virgin and that is why everyone looks the other way when these guys have homosexual sex. It is frowned on after he marries. I believe sexual frustration is the root of the problem with the violent Muslim culture. In fact your young son is more at threat to being raped than your daughter.

Isn't it significant that my daughter had to pull her sidearm only twice in Iraq - once when an Iraqi male literally seized her arm and tried to pull her forcibly from her military vehicle. She's 5'11" and he didn't get anywhere fast.

"I believe sexual frustration is the root of the problem with the violent Muslim culture."
That theory makes a lot of sense.
