THE victims in the case of the randy Catholic schoolteacher were sexually active lads of 16 and 17. Not 12. They are old enough to shave and to drive, as well as to access pornography on the Internet. Old enough, that is, to say, "Yes," and know what it means.
In another time and place, we would have called these teens saddled with burgeoning hormones and overactive imaginations by quite another name: They'd be called Men.
But until an Albany judge yesterday summoned the temerity to utter the words, no one would dare say out loud what the majority was thinking
There is no indication that teacher Beth Geisel, 42, manipulated her young charges to satisfy her urges. On the contrary.
"The 16-year-old badgered her to meet him. He broke through a skylight, piled chairs on the doors, and had the other two kids peeking through the window," Geisel's lawyer, Donald Kinsella, was telling me
You might call Geisel desperate and needy, bordering on the pathological. But she is not a predator. The boys had their fun with her, then they laughed at her behind her back, while notching up their belts and boasting of their exploits.
People will howl that Geisel got treated leniently because she's a woman. But I believe Judge Herrick should be applauded

"The hot crazy drunk teacher puts out!"
Good gosh, dead.
Another thread like this one...here we go...where is that "eating popcorn" graphic when you need it!
LOL. It would cause a stampede!!!
And now, a word to the author of the article:
The boys/men/horndogs are not the ones on trial. The randy teacher is the one who broke the law. If she's out looking for some young stud, let her find an 18-year-old who is not a student where she is employed.
Do teachers need to have it spelled out in their contracts that they are not to have sexual relations with their students, (even if the student is 18 and a legal adult)?
Do teachers need to have it spelled out in their contracts that they are not to have sexual relations with their students, (even if the student is 18 and a legal adult)?
Do Presidents need to have it spelled out in their contracts that they are not to have sexual relations with their interns, (even if the intern is 18 and a legal adult)?
Oops, I forgot, there was no intercourse with Billy MonMon.
You're absolutely right, she's responsible for her own actions, whether she was drunk at the time or not.
Of course, if they were trying to join the army, they would be little children.
I agree with her on a lot of it..but she is 42 and should know better..the kids are scum too and if it were a guy and girls Id say the same thing but of course the guy would be a perv in jail for life
Yea it is but the teachers used to know better
Just a wild guess on my part, but Id say Mr. Ditters dream didnt come true.
I say that because everybody Ive ever known that was sexually active with an older female while in their early teens have mental issues, IMO.
They usually view sex as recreational and casual and as something not much more meaningful than watching a TV show or playing a hand of cards.
Im sure thats the type of kid you want your daughter to date.
Also, Ive noticed that they tend to be on the violent side more so than their peers, IMO.
I had a cousin that was Mr. Big Shot because he was banging some housewife that lived around the corner from his family when he was 13/14/15 years old. Hed be in his early 60s now but I know over the years he was accused (though never charged or prosecuted) of at least four rapes. One was a ~16 year old girl when he was in his mid 20s.
He was married twice and has some broad he lives with (still) and every one of them have had him racked up for beating them at one time or other.
Its funny because I remember him being somewhat normal as a kid. Something happened to cause him to be stupid.
Also funny because the last time I saw him we were in a cafeteria and there was a waitress that was a little cutie. His remark to me was, I ought to bend her over that table and . Ill let you fill in the rest.
I thought it was odd because I might see a little wiggly, jiggly honey-bunny and think shes sexually attractive. But for sure Im NOT going to be telling someone Ive only seen 50 times in my life that I ought to sexually assault her. In fact, Im not going to even *think* it which may very well be the result of his taking a path that I never did.
End result for me is that I dont really think I missed out on anything meaningful.
Lots of people think its really cool or something. Lets see how cool they think it is when their daughter/niece/granddaughter starts rubbing elbows with them. (Of course thatll be different somehow.)
Have girls ever done this to a male teacher? I think so. The guy will get out of prison in 2018.
Thats good. Just pointing out that there have been people that lived the Big Dream and it wasnt all it was cracked up to be. In fact, it messed them up in the head, IMO.
Next month we will celebrate our 48th wedding anniversary.
Now thats an accomplishment just about anywhere. (Today because they usually don't last that long, and in years past because they didn't live that long. Ha!) Congrats.
I don't think you read the article. The teacher is an alcoholic, and the young men broke into her home. They were the aggressors.
Being too drunk to know what you're doing is no excuse, but I also think the young men are hoodlums and are going to wind up in jail before too long.
I agree with you. Young men broke into her home, outnumbered her, and took advantage of her in her drunken state? Yikes. They're just a little ahead of their time. Should we feel less care for or more outrage against the teacher merely because she was much older? In a few years in college, if they get off, no pun intended, they'll be the kind of guys who gang up on girls drinking at parties and single one out to get her drunk and take back to their room... This is just as heinous.
Mea culpa and guilty as charged.
Man, nothing like running off at the mouth when you don't know what you're talking about! (I am embarrassed!)
There is something about this that reminds me of the story of the man who went to jail for consensual sex with a 15 year old girl he met in a bar and who claimed to be 18.
It irritated the heck out of me that she could go hunting for him, in a place he had every right to believe that she was of age, was lied to and still got punished.
It's the law, it has to be followed, but sometimes it really is blind.
Insightful post. Thanks.
