Recent update on this older story....Government fines at $2500 CAN per incident as of October 2005. Have personal knowledge (buddy in Canada) that its happening today.

Question.....Since when did Canadian Government start to control web content?

Does the fine also apply if they have a French site but no English site?

In Quebec, English text must be below and significantly smaller than the French text on certain signs.

We can all look forward to mandates on Spanish-language versions here.

It's just a matter of time...

This is a Quebec Gov't issue.... They'll stop at nothing to protect the French language in Canada. If you want to do business in Quebec, you better speak the language.

Me standing in line at an A & W in BC:

"What the heck is a Poutine?"
"Fries in gravy with some cheese?"
"Kinda like chili/cheese fries?"
"I wouldn't know."
"I'll try some."
Five minutes later.
"Hey, that's pretty good."

Poutine is awesome. Sounds gross but it is great.

About the only thing good about Canada these days.

BTW, I live near Detroit and have a whole bunch of Canadian blood in me, so I can openly mock my ancestors.

I read somwhere that 40 million americans have direct ancestry from french colonists from Quebec.

That may explain the moonbat liberals philosophy!!!

BTW you can mock as much as you wish. God knows Canadians like to mock Americans for being well, American!!'

cheers

Voluntary Spanish language translation is all over the place. You are right, once the left sees this revenue potential, we are toast.

This is not about the Canadian government.

What is it about? Thought the Quebec Gov't is part of Canadian Gov't?

Wait, don't answer that ;)

Quebec has some of the most draconian language laws in the world. They do not just require signage in French, which makes sense, they restrict or prohibit it in English or any other language.

...they restrict or prohibit it in English or any other language.

And freedom-loving Canadians don't see the similarity to Nazi Germany and much of the Muslim world with these harsh social edicts?

An rough guess would be there is not enough organized resistance....there's gotta be a large non-moonbat population that can vote these bozos out.
