Scott Johnson posted this on Powerline - it reminds us again how inept old soldiers are at fighting a new kind of war. McCain spent most of his time in the "Hanoi Hilton", but emerged with full knowledge of how to fight war. Murtha, a good soldier has no idea of how digital and technical today’s military is. Congressmen and Senators should let the experts run the war, our President does. These ancient warriors should stop meddling where they are no longer trained in the tactics of modern warfare.

I did not read it until today but Murtha actuall said "we can't win militarily".

This is not incredibly damaging to the morale of the troops and incredibly embolding to the scumbags our troops are fighting.

John O'Neil is bang-on the money. His analysis is razor sharp.

NewsMax.com reported yesterday that it was Murtha who convinced Clinton to withdraw from Somalia.

And retreating from Somalia was one of the reasons Osama said attacking the US could be done with no repercussions!

"I won't stand for the Swift-Boating of Jack Murtha!"

Yet another symptom of a contemporary phenomenon that I call subtextual schism whereby conservatives and leftists bring different sets of underlying assumptions to debates. Allow me to further illustrate with a couple of quotes that seem to mean different things depending upon your political orientation.
Our troops have become the enemy. We need to change direction in Iraq," said Rep. John Murtha of Pennsylvania
“The fact is that, unlike during other times of national threat or crisis, the United States of America is not at war.”

Great article John O'Neil. I still frequent the SBVT website long after we deafeated Hanoi John Kerry. If Kerry decides to run again in 2008, we will be more than happy to come back down out of the moumtains and deliver him another well deserved asswhipping.

Please feel free to vist and thank John for all of his hard work in helping to expose Hanoi John Kerry for what he really is (a traitor). BTW, John O'Neil is an attorney (they usually all vote democrat) that voted for Al Gore in 2000 so he is hardly part of the "vast rightwing conspiracy".

Soon Dems will be saying, "I may be against the war, but I support the troops just like Kerry did."

BTW, I love John's new term, "Kerrying" our troops. This is a classic for sure and has now been officially adopted into my arsenal when verbally sparring with radical leftists and/or peace loving anti-war types.

Sen. Kerry remains a dedicated leftist who only wants the defeat of America by our enemies.

He should be impeached immediately, especially if he starts up with the line: "Who wants to be the last American to die in Iraq or Afghanistan."

Kerry doesn't seem to care that his fellow Democrat Sen. John D. Rockefeller IV blithely warned Middle East leaders that Bush was intent on invading Iraq.

" I did not read it until today but Murtha actuall said "we can't win militarily". "

Read the Murtha quotes to get a sense of how Kerryish he really is. And at the very bottom, is the epilogue from his latest book.
He was against withdrawal from Iraq before he was for it.

The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer , Nov 17,2005

Murtha: Well, I say that the fight against Americans began with Abu Ghraib.
It began with the invasion of Iraq.
That's when terrorism started.

Meet The Press , Sunday Nov 20, 2005
REP. JOHN MURTHA :The U.S. cannot accomplish anything further in Iraq militarily.
REP. MURTHA: Tim, I'm absolutely convinced that we're making no progress at all,
REP. MURTHA: ...We've become the enemy.

REP. MURTHA: ..There's no question we're going in the wrong direction and we're not winning.
REP. MURTHA:.. Even the military operations, Tim, when we throw people out of their homes, cause us tremendous problems.
REP. MURTHA: ..We have increased terrorism in the Middle East, is what we've done.

Murtha Speech, Nov 17, 2005

"....U.S. forces have become a catalyst for violence."
" All of Iraq must know that Iraq is free. Free from United States occupation."

Here's what Murtha wrote in the epilogue of his last book -"From Vietnam to 9/11: On the Front Lines of National Security "

"A war initiated on faulty intelligence must not be followed by a premature withdrawal of our troops based on a political timetable.
An untimely exit could rapidly devolve into a civil war, which would leave America's foreign policy in disarray
as countries question not only America's judgment but also its perseverance."

"It would be an international disaster I think if we pulled out."
