Specific Evaluation Criterion In general, an "A" requires full disclosure of the truth, discussion of relevant scientific controversies, and a recognition that Darwin's theory -- like all scientific theories -- might have to be revised or discarded if it doesn't fit the facts. An "F" indicates that the textbook uncritically relies on logical fallacy, dogmatically treats a theory as an unquestionable fact, or blatantly misrepresents published scientific evidence.

Let's get the expectations set so you all know that on Free Republic Evolution cannot be debated without one group calling the other group idots.
So read the article and move on because this is going to get bloody real fast!!
You, sir, are an idot.
(What's an idot? Is that like an iPod, only smaller?)
Am I a prophet or what!!
Now we need someone from the other side calling the other group morons and then we can be done.
It's almost as if the vast majority of scientists who write the textbooks believe evolution to be a valid theory.
Oh, wait...
The vast majority of scientists believe in global warming but I'm not selling my SUV. All we are saying is give some time to other possibilities.
The meteorologists that I've talked to at the NWS don't believe in global warming. As a matter of fact, if you want to raise their blood pressure just bring the subject up.
Also, do we know for sure that it is scientists who write the textbooks? Or is it just textbook writers? And what about the proofreading process? I've heard that there are often significant errors in history books so is there any reason to believe that science books aren't any different?
Hey! Leave the Illinois Department of Transportation out of this!
Sorry, this is for Evolution vs. Creation. Mac vs. PC is bound to be starting up on another thread very soon.
(Macs rule. End PC hegemony.)
Excellent topic, truthfinder9. I read through the linked material and found it a good resource as to problems with modern Darwin theory. I did not pursue this far enough to know if the evaluated textbooks are the current front-runners in schools, or merely a rundown on the bottom set of disasters. What would constitute a good (A or B) Biology text for homeschoolers? This site seems to be dedicated to Intelligent Design, but offers no examples of acceptable existing textbooks. Maybe there aren't any.
This is an interesting topic that reveals the true motivations behind some. Many people that scream about the threat to science in schools presented by ID turn a blind eye to the obvious falsehoods presented in many books, simply because they support evolution.
I don't think ID should be taught in schools, but if evolution is to be taught, many school districts need to revisit the materials that are used.
